Staff Engineer – Turbomachinery Aerodynamics & Aeromechanics
Job Description SummaryAs a Turbomachinery Aero & Aeromechanics Engineer, they will primarily focus on maturing high-fidelity (LES) flow simulation process for turbomachinery components like high pressure turbines, turbine vane frames, low pressure turbines, turbine rear frame, fan blades, compressors, inlets and exhaust nozzles, impacting current and future engine programs. In this role it is expected to develop standardized simulation methodologies by collaborating with other team members and global design teams; learn the current aero & aeromechanical design processes and apply them to estimate performance of a component and utilize physics understanding to drive design changes, assess aerodynamics and aeromechanics related risks like performance short fall, flutter, forced response and devise testing strategies to validate the simulation methodologies.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Develop standardized simulation process for unsteady complex 3D flows

Perform CFD analysis to understand impact on aero and aeromechanical performance and articulate physics understanding in the form of flutter, forced response etc.

Develop high fidelity (LES) flow simulation process for current and future engine programs targeting components like Turbines, Frames, Fans, Compressors, Inlet and Exhausts

Work collaboratively with global design team on process validation

Leverage digital and machine learning techniques to improve capacity
