Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. Core Diagnostics products and associated manufacturing processes are developed and commercialized under a comprehensive quality system which complies to regulatory authority requirements for country’s Abbott supplies product to. The **Staff Engineer** is a career established and productive leader accountable for on-time and within budget completion of project/program milestones for new and existing products, processes, prototypes, mold tooling and associated equipment. The desired candidate must have a proactive mindset and exceptional project & task completion skills. The candidate must work independently and cross-functionally with minimal supervision on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments and executes compliantly, efficiently, on-time, and within budget to meet business objectives. The candidate must be a skilled communicator, both written and verbally, and have a desire to inspire others to constantly achieve more to fulfill Abbott promise of creating life-changing health care technologies that help people live better, fuller lives. **What You’ll Work On** + Develop, lead & manage **multiple** Division Engineering product, capital asset, and process projects. + Apply scientific knowledge and experience to create an appropriately scoped project plan that meets business and compliance requirements. + Estimates and conveys resource and effort requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, seeking input from appropriate staff, and understanding of quality system requirements. + Must be capable of drafting technical assessments for proposed design output changes. + Prepare project plans, schedules, and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project. + Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying/continued monitoring of risks, and developing and executing contingency plans. + Supports continuous quality improvement and may serve as the technical / business lead for subsystem projects. Suggests and implements improvement initiatives. + Possesses significant experience in designing and verifying solutions, adept at handling ambiguous requirements, limited information, and tight time and cost constraints. Demonstrates creativity to optimize design efficiently while ensuring effectiveness and feasibility within project requirements. + Assure project quality by using standard development methodologies and by working with Supplier Quality Assurance to develop and execute project quality plans. + Proactively communicates project status by creating project and program communication plans and prepares ad hoc status reports.Participates in departmental and customer project status update meetings. Resolve project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate. Consult with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques. + Participate in external project management organizations, conferences, and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management. Understand business environment and incorporate into decision making. Relate extensive knowledge of internal and external technological activities to trends. + Interface with leadership on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units. Provide technical support to business units. Exercise judgment, consult with leadership. Initiate and maintain schedule for projects and project milestones. Establish priorities of individual or project assignments. Select methods and techniques to lead a project to completion. + Manage data integrity and generate analytics and reporting that enables portfolio management and decision making for the business. Evaluate business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions. Develop reports and analytics. Communicate to end-user requirements, data needs and available reporting. Provide training on processes and user requirements. Drive continuous improvement to improve data quality, system use and adoption. + This may include preparing designs and work specifications, developing project schedules, budgets, and forecasts, and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors. + Set priorities, allocates tasks, and coordinates project staff to meet project targets and milestones. + Possesses significant experience in designing and verifying solutions, adept at handling ambiguous requirements, limited information, and tight time and cost constraints.
