Staff Engineer - Electrician

Summary: 

Performs electrical work including but not limited to installation and maintenance of electric lighting, distribution, and supply systems of hospital and satellite locations. Coordinates with affected departments to conduct repairs or preventative maintenance. Prepares and implements emergency drills and procedures to ensure the safety of GRHC staff and patients with regards to electrical issues.

Critical Tasks: 

Tests all life safety equipment using the Joint Commission Standards, including but not limited to switch gear, transfer switches, generators, and emergency lighting.Responds to electrical outage emergencies at all GRHC locations.Performs preventative maintenance of all electrical systems including but not limited to generators, ATS, and electrical outlets.Records preventative maintenance, inspection, and testing reports and files for the Joint Commission.Coordinates with affected departments in scheduling major repairs or preventative maintenance.Responds and follows up on complaints received and troubleshoots any potential electrical issues.Submits regular status reports of activities to the Director of Facilities.Installs wiring, components, and equipment as part of renovation efforts or relocations, in compliance with industry codes and licensing standards.Maintains emergency drills and test procedures to ensure proper operation of all backup emergency power systems.Coordinates with electrical utilities, suppliers, and contractors for services and equipment.Performs other job-related activities as requested.

Required Qualifications:

Certificate of Completion of a vocational or trade school course or program in a closely related field.Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.2 years of journey level electrical experience required; experience in a hospital setting preferred.State of Arizona driver’s license with no significant violations during the last 5 years.
