Job Description SummaryThe exhaust mechanical design engineer will lead module level exhaust system mechanical design. This includes guidance and or ownership of the design and analysis of various components and subassemblies within exhaust module, including analysis, detailed design, manufacturing and test. Emphasis on Project management including financial and personnel planning.

This role requires work to be completed on-site 95% of the time. As much work-life flexibility as the work enables is provided.

Roles and Responsibilities

Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all productsDeveloping specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the marketUses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.Will lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or collegeMinimum of 5 years of experience in Design EngineeringAbility to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.

Desired Characteristics

Minimum of 7 years' experience in Design EngineeringMaster's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace EngineeringExisting US Government Secret clearance.Demonstrated experience with exhaust nozzles, structures, ducts and linersIn-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & TolerancingDesire to lead portfolio of projectsEngine design familiarization.Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach.Ability to guide and influence others.Operational experience working in and managing complex, distributed teams.Familiarity to GE design practices, processes and productsAbility to navigate ambiguous design challenges/scenariosSystems level thinking in a teaming environment
