The Staff Engineer – SEQ Field Applications will act as a conduit between the design team and Production plants. This position will assist in the special applications of new control systems and medium voltage product development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the planning, execution, and On-time delivery of Special engineering projects
Ability to read, understand and create wiring diagrams, electric schematic and flowcharts
Expert knowledge of serial communications and connected devices
Expert knowledge of microprocessor control systems including PID loops
Experience with the following - embedded ‘C’Firmware, programming languages, Linux shell scripts
Foster collaboration between engineering departments to identify and harvest new engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards and procedures.
Oversee creation configuration software for new and special applications.
Oversees application of new products into production
Recommends design changes and conducts implementation
Leads creation PLC ladder logic for special designs.
Implements test process for new designs.
Conducts FMEA/DFMEA analysis.
Interface with internal company personnel
Other Duties as assigned and the following:
This position requires on-site support at various Generac production plants with some site travel.
Helps in the creation of test procedures and manuals for both new and existing systems
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
7+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of Short Circuit Analysis according to UL standards, Selective coordination Analysis, Arc Flash Analysis, Over-current protective device, Industrial Control Panel, National Electric code and standards (NEC), NFPA, UL, CE, CSA, Load Schedule, Voltage Drop Calculation, Load Schedule, Time current Curve (TCC), Short Circuit Analysis, Selective coordination Analysis, Arc Flash Analysis, Over-current protective device, Industrial Control Panels.
Drafting experience (CAD, Creo or similar)
Expert knowledge of microprocessor control systems including PID loops
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Prior work experience with Medium Voltage systems.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes.
Expert understanding of electronics, Analogue and digital Hardware designs.
Expert understanding of test equipment such as oscilloscopes and meters.
Expert ethernet network knowledge (knowledge of MAC/Ethernet addressing schemes)
Experience in using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
