Staff Lab Tech. 1

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Lab Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory by meticulously performing tasks, maintaining and utilizing lab equipment, and keeping work areas organized and safe. Attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures are essential for success in this role.

 

What you’ll do as a lab Technician:

Maintain 3000+ square feet of clean, functional, and organized laboratory space including organization and storage of hardware and test equipment. Prepare and set up instrumentation, including fabricating cable assemblies for laboratory and field testing. Troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems (3D printers, laser cutter, vinyl cutter, bench grinder, drill press, manual and CNC lathes and mills, etc.) Track and maintain electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, analog meters, digital multi-meter, and pressure calibrator. Support project with hardware fabrication and assembly. Order and maintain stock of laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies. Maintain accurate accounts of time, labor, materials, and equipment for work performed. Prepare oral and written reports as necessary.

 

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a related position. In-depth understanding of hardware and system assembly, 3D printing. Familiarity with the safe operation of power tools, band saws, and other shop tools. Operate a variety of specialized electronic testing equipment in a safe and effective manner.

 

Technician Preferences

Technical training, or a related field, preferred. Positive attitude and excellent communication in order to facilitate smooth collaboration with multiple technical project teams. Proficient with 3D printing, power and precision tools, general shop tools. Experience with bench top soldering equipment (solder iron, surface mount soldering, and printed circuit board rework). Experience machining plastics and metals. Familiarity with MS Office environment (Outlook, Excel, MS Word)
