What You Will Do

As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer on our Stryker’s Orthopedic Instruments new product development team, you will be charged with applying sound engineering practices while designing new products and technologies used in surgery.  You will stay close to our customers and collect valuable insights into product performance and features. You will have an active role in everything from brainstorming new concepts to commercialization and manufacturing scale-up.

You will independently research, design, develop, modify, and verify components, modules and sub-systems for medical devicesYou will translate user needs to design inputs/ specifications and produce complex system level designs with some guidanceYou will conduct or design advanced prototyping and testingYou will analyze and correct complex product design issues using independent judgmentYou will advance solutions by applying in-depth knowledge of customer needs, market and competitive offeringsYou will apply detailed knowledge of clinical procedures to author design inputsYou will support Voice of Customer sessions internally and with cliniciansYou will be proficient with and potentially mentor others in usage of industry standards, including design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulationsYou will work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project successYou will identify and support the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technologyYou will support and execute segments of complex multifunctional teams to advance projects through the design /development/launch processYou will deliver high quality results with passion, energy and drive to meet business priorities

What You NeedBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering dicipline4+ years of relevant experienceExperience with 3D CAD modeling software (Creo Preferred)

What We Would Love That You Have (Preferred Qualifications)

Demonstrated mechanical problem-solving skillsStrong organization and planning skillsExperience with customer centered designsExperience in developing and optimizing complex designs for mechanical / electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principlesExperience in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAE tools to optimize the designAdept to apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product designAbility to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team members
