STAFF MENTOR - Patriot

The Staff Mentor will primarily be an in-ratio position that provides support, coaching, and constructive feedback to the direct care staff in each house across their assigned center.
 

Qualifications (Education, Training and Experiences)

1. High School Diploma required, Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.

2. Minimum of 1 year of highly related direct care experience required.


Job Duties / Essential Functions:

1. Act as a preceptor for the direct care positions across the center.

2. Debrief with associates following a critical incident to provide support, guidance and constructive feedback.

3. Work closely with house leadership in providing observations and feedback to them.

4. Complete Program Integrity walkthroughs and assist in Safety Checks across the center.

5. Work with the Program and Staff Development Specialist (PSDS) of each center to ensure practices across the center are consistent within KidsPeace Policy, Procedures and Training.

6. Attend staff cohorts with the PSDS to provide additional support and guidance to the learning process.

7. All other duties as assigned by program leadership.

4. Interdepartmental Cooperation – Able to form bonds with others outside the area of responsibility, analyze problem areas or areas of potential cooperation, and work effectively on common concerns.

5. Crisis Intervention – Able to fully perform all aspects of a restraint using the current approved KidsPeace methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others. Become highly skilled in all KidsPeace crisis and alternative intervention strategies and become a PA Residential trainer in 1 of them.

6. Compliance – Understands and rigorously follows all of the compliance policies and procedures of KidsPeace

Corporation.

7. Must have the ability to work effectively within all of the different populations in PA Residential.

 

Job Description Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

1. Ability to perform moderate physical activities for extended periods of time with some exposure to environmental

conditions.

2. Must be fully trained and certified in current KidsPeace approved restraint methodology and have the ability to fully

participate in all aspects of restraint procedures on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and are physically

threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.

3. Able to operate company vehicles and have a valid driver’s license.

4. Must be able to walk, sit and stand for long periods of time, possibly to stand/walk the entire shift.

5. Must have the agility for climbing, balancing, stopping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, fingering and grasping for moderate periods of time.

6. Must be able to receive and give detailed information through verbal and written communication. Must be proficient in the English language.

7. Must have the ability to work with hands and arms above the head for short to moderate periods of time, possibly on a repetitive basis.

8. Must have the ability to move in excess of 100 pounds through lifting and have the ability to push or pull in excess of 250 pounds.
