Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Staff Network Engineer based out of San Diego, CA, to be the Integrated Product Team Lead for the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) Network/System Administration (NW/SysAdmin) team. Under this role you will be responsible of leading the NW/SysAdmin team to execute the contractual deliverables for the BACN business portfolio. The NW/SysAdmin Lead would have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide Digital Transformation initiative. What You’ll get to Do:

Act as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead for the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program Collaborate with the cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative network technologies and solutions that drive operational efficiency and business valueLead a team of cross-discipline professionals who design, integrate, operate, and sustain secure, military communications networksLead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the productivity and efficiency of delivering customer products and unlock new engineering capabilitiesLead the Innovation to build new systems and enhance existing systems and identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problemsEnsure the Network/SysAdmin team maintains network standards, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and security across the organizationMonitor responsible engineers for completing the network configurations and coordinating with the peers, SMEs, and government engineersSupport Earned Value Management (EVM) guidelines across a portfolio of contracts and support staffEnsure process adherence and improvement across a portfolio of programsPrepare for and conduct presentations and demonstrations to customers, program leadership, and other stakeholdersApprove Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for future work within your IPTMentor, train, and develop junior professionalsAdvise on integration of new emerging industry technologies to the program’s systemsBe a role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product communityInfluence and educate executives

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for Staff Network Engineer:

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 12 years of experience; OR 10 years of relevant experience with a Master (MS) degree; OR 8 years of experience with STEM PhD degreeAn additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degreeThis position requires a combination of technical expertise and a strong understanding of DoD-specific security requirements and protocols.Expert level knowledge and experience on network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection per DoD requirementsExpert-level knowledge in IP4 and IPv6 network design, including IP sub-netting and protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, QoS, and SD-WANUnderstanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE).Experience in advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.Knowledgeable with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS.Proficient in architecture assessment and leadership in proposal efforts by providing Bases of Estimates for customer funding  Ability to travel 10% of the timeMust be a US CitizenCLEARANCE: The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP or equivalent.A professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.Experience on migration from CISCO to Palo Alto firewallsFamiliar with network management applications, like Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE.Experience with Risk and Opportunity ManagementDemonstrated responsibility for ensuring that the project delivers to government expectations on time and to budget; managing project work as defined by the governmentPrevious experience leading technical teams, to include staffing tasksExposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.Familiar with Windows, Linux, and VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.Experience with tactical/military radio networks, like Common Data Link (CDL) and ANW2.Experience with (MIL) SATCOM equipment and services.Experience with Cisco Unified Communications / VoIP and VTCExperience with Cisco Modelling Labs (CML) or Virtual Internet Routing Lab (VIRL).Proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and VisioActive U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $155,500.00 - $233,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
