The Float Nurse will work under the supervision of the Manager and/or Director to deliver direct patient care following the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice, Ohio Revised Code, and Holzer Nursing Model of Care.
The Float Nurse will be responsible for scheduling their shifts on the float schedule to reflect when they are available to work. Based on where the greatest need for shift coverage is, the float nurse will be assigned to work in one of the following departments: cardiac care, medical/surgical care, or patient rehabilitation prior to the start of their shift. If the need for coverage changes at any point during this shift, the float nurse may be reassigned to cover that need. Float Nurses with specific competencies in specialized areas, may work in those units.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure:
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Education program.
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience within an Acute Care setting
• Current RN license in the State of Ohio
• BLS required through the American Heart Association
• ACLS recommended
TIER I
• Tier I- Minimum 24 hours every week and every other weekend. Shift and weekend differential will be included.
• Tier 1 must be scheduled to work 2 out of 8 recognized holidays per year.
TIER II
• Tier 2: Minimum of 36 hours every week and every other weekend. Shift and weekend differential will be included.
• Tier 2 must be scheduled to work 2 out of 8 recognized holidays per year.
TIER III
• Tier 3: Minimum of 36 hours every weekend (Friday- Sunday). Shift and weekend differential will be included.
• Tier 3 will work holidays that fall on weekends.
