The Staff Paramedic will perform patient care tasks consistent with their level of training and scope of practice. This includes general patient assessment, basic and advanced airway and breathing management, CPR and defibrillation, recognition and treatment of shock, emergency childbirth, and the care of medical emergencies.\n

Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nGeneral patient assessment and emergent care of patients in the field\n\nBasic and advanced airway and breathing management\nCPR and defibrillation\nRecognition and treatment of shock\nEmergency childbirth\nCare of medical emergencies\n\n\nIncorporates advanced life support skills as needed that include intravenous and intraosseous access, the incorporation of advanced airway equipment, multiple ventilation and oxygenation modalities, and controlled and non-controlled medication administration\nDocument their patient care as part of an electronic medical record\nAs the highest level of emergency medical technician licensure, the Paramedic must always supervise the care of EMTs working as part of their team\nSafely operate agency vehicles in both emergency and non-emergency scenarios, as well as utilize multiple pieces of medical and patient movement equipment according to manufacture instructions for use and agency guidelines\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\nGraduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma \nValid New York State Paramedic license\nValid American Heart Association (or equivalent) Basic Life Support CPR certification\nValid American Heart Association Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification\nValid American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification \nValid Motor Vehicle Operators License from the state of legal residence, with a driving record that demonstrates general compliance with motor vehicle laws\nSuccessful completion of the emergency Vehicle Operator's Certification (within 12 months of hire)\n\n

Location and Shift Requirements:\n\nBased at Schuyler Hospital - Off-site bases of Cayuga Health System across Schuyler County in Watkins Glen, Odessa, and Tyrone\n24-hour shifts - 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 96 off\n\n
Pay Range Disclosure:\n\n$24.00 to $32.30 per hour\n\n
