Position Title: Staff Power System Consultant
Salary: $136,660 - $181,300 / Year
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week
Summary of Duties: Work on projects of different sizes, in a single computer environment where design is ranging from semi-complex to complex. The assignments can include steady-state, dynamic and transient analyses of electrical power transmission systems, modeling of renewable and conventional generation facilities and other elements of power systems, relay protection modeling, microgrid studies, electrical power distribution system studies, etc. Conduct resource scheduling and order fulfillment of consulting project orders. Lead fast-paced consulting projects often under tight timelines and budgets, providing technical leadership and guidance. Maintain expertise and up-to-date information in the areas of dynamic and EMT modeling and analysis. Lead client engagements and proposal generation functions as per Siemens PTI quality standards. Maintain a 3-year business plan and drive new portfolio development for emerging market. Mentor junior consultants in the area of power system steady-state, dynamic and EMT modeling and analysis. Support the Business Development team in formulating and implementing winning strategies, including promoting consulting services. Produce draft reports and presentations with study results for the review of supervisors. Support development of project plan incorporating all project variables. Prepare weekly status reports on all project activities. Instruct advanced courses in power system dynamics and EMT transients in Siemens Power Academy program. 100% remote work permitted. Approximately 10% travel to Foster City, California for team meetings.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or an acceptable alternate occupation. Employer will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires experience with the following: power engineering, transmission planning, ISO/RTO, or utility experience in the US power industry; power system planning, modeling and analysis, with an emphasis on EMT modeling and analysis; experience using power systems analysis tools, such as PSCAD, PSS®E, PSLF, TARA, etc., particularly PSCAD; programming skills such as: Python, VBA.
