Staff Product Designer, Dashboards

We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer with technical aptitude and a passion for solving complex problems. Specifically, you’ll help design the two tools that nearly every Datadog customer uses - Dashboards that proactively monitor the health of an application, paired with Monitors that send alerts when things go wrong. 

The ideal candidate will both improve the dashboard & alerting experiences across Datadog and help discover new strategic opportunities for these core products. You’ll engage with customers to understand their needs and pain points, conduct in-depth research on major and emerging dashboarding and alerting tools, and collaborate closely with engineers and product managers alongside designers on your team. Your ability to communicate and translate technical concepts into intuitive and scalable designs will be key to your success in this role.

What You’ll Do Work with product managers, engineers, and researchers to understand how our customers use Datadog and what they need to succeed With your peers, discover new strategic opportunities that improve dashboard and alerting experiences across Datadog. See your design work through from start to finish: turn insights from user research into ideas, sketch and prototype to bring them to life, and ship products and features that make Datadog better Develop a relationship with your engineering team to understand how your designs will be built and how you can provide quality assurance. Be the expert in your product area, mentoring designers on the team to do their best work Communicate and build consensus around your design decisions and the rationale behind them across the company Who You Are You are a staff level designer with 10+ years of experience in web. You have a track record of consistently raising the bar for yourself and the designers around you. You thrive in complexity and ambiguity, and bring clarity to your teams through your mastery of the design process. You are a strong facilitator who collaborates across teams and levels of design, product, and engineering. You excel at communicating and can tell a compelling story to build buy-in to your design strategy.  You guide the creation of the new patterns and can evangelize those patterns to scale across an organization.  You skillfully balance strategy, research, interaction design, and visual design to achieve effective and elevated design solutions.  You are a strong starter and finisher, able to take products or features from  0>1.  You have experience with advanced modern-day UX/UI tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch).  You gracefully give and receive feedback, and seek out ways to improve you and your colleagues' ways of working.  Bonus points Familiarity designing for developer tools, dashboard tools or other highly complex problem spaces. You have experience in a SaaS or B2B startup and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role at Datadog is:$195,000—$255,000 USD
