Staff Product Manager, Trust & Safety

Lyft is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Staff Product Manager to help build and lead product initiatives that enhance the safety of Lyft’s community of riders and drivers. You will be at the forefront of defining, building, and scaling features that drive trust, protect the community, and ensure seamless experiences that prioritize the physical and psychological safety of our riders and drivers. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, legal, data science, research, and operations to ensure we build products that deliver on both short-term and long-term Community Safety goals. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills are essential, as you will be working across various departments to create and execute safety features.

This is a high-impact role that requires a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and the broader regulatory landscape. You will lead the roadmap and strategic vision for key Community Safety initiatives – customer facing, backend, and AI-based – and your work will be critical to ensuring that Lyft continues to foster a safe and trusted environment for its customers. As a Staff Product Manager, you will also mentor and guide your team, ensuring their professional growth and fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities: Lead the Community Safety product strategy by developing and executing a robust roadmap to enhance safety features and tools that reduce Community Safety incidents and protect the community Own end-to-end 0-1 product development, from ideation through launch, working closely with engineering, design, data science, research, and operations teams. You excel at explaining complex technical concepts in simple terms to ensure effective cross-functional communication Partner with legal and compliance teams to identify tradeoffs and ensure all safety-related features comply with regulatory requirements and align with company goals Identify and prioritize opportunities to enhance safety measures, using data-driven insights, customer feedback, and industry trends to influence decisions. Your comfort with data will allow you to drive key decisions and iterate on product experiences Define and track key performance metrics related to Community Safety broadly, and also Community Safety features; iterate on product experiences based on data-driven insights Conduct market and competitive research to stay ahead of emerging safety trends, potential threats, and new technologies in the transportation and Community Safety space Collaborate with the broader Lyft product teams to ensure that safety initiatives are seamlessly integrated across the rider and driver experiences Advocate for the safety of our community, driving alignment across teams and leadership to prioritize and deliver critical initiatives Demonstrate the value you hold in interpersonal relationships, consistently working to build trust with internal and external partners Serve as a thought leader on Community Safety topics, representing Lyft externally with stakeholders, regulators, and partners when needed Demonstrate excellent business judgment by carefully balancing company priorities with customer needs, ensuring well-thought-out decisions that serve both Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in product management in a fast-paced environment Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to align diverse teams around a shared vision Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to inform product decisions and strategy Proven experience working with compliance, regulatory, and legal teams Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts in a simple way and influence stakeholders Ability to think strategically about product vision while also managing the details necessary for successful execution Possess strong business judgment, with the ability to consider and communicate tradeoffs between company needs and the needs of riders and drivers Comfortable working in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment with a positive, committed, and 'can-do' attitude Time management and prioritization are strengths; you excel at managing multiple priorities and breaking large projects into manageable pieces Passionate about creating safer experiences for communities, with a customer-obsessed mindset Prioritize collective success over individual achievement, fostering a team-oriented environment Benefits: Extended health and dental coverage options, along with life insurance and disability benefits Mental health benefits Family building benefits Access to a Health Care Savings Account In addition to provincial observed holidays, team members get 15 days paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service  4 Floating Holidays each calendar year prorated based off of date of hire 10 paid sick days per year regardless of province 18 weeks of paid parental leave. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid
