Staff Quality Engineer

Cirrus Aircraft’s Mission is to deliver an aviation experience that is the pinnacle of innovation, quality, and safety to our customers.  This position will be a part of the Quality Engineering Team and will support both Product Development and Sustainment efforts as well as assist in qualification of suppliers to ensure delivery of quality parts, materials, and services.  This individual will conduct feasibility studies and testing of new and modified designs to support design, testing, prototype fabrication, manufacturing, and flight operations.   

Job Duties:

Develops various industrial and quality engineering problem-solving techniques to evaluate product quality and the recommended strategies and programs. Leads Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) for existing processes in a manufacturing environment. Leads Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) for Product Development and Engineering Design Changes Processes. Supports others in continuous process improvements, including overall quality management system development. Applies various industrial and quality engineering problem-solving techniques to evaluate product quality and the recommended strategies and programs. Trains others in root cause analysis and corrective action processes. Develops cross functional teams that include manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain in order to support advanced design development.

Qualifications:

Knowledgeable in the use of various problem-solving and quality engineering methodologies such as process mapping, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, statistical techniques such as Analysis of Variance, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility, and Process Capability Studies Quality Engineers use the principal statistics, calculus, trigonometry, and other advanced topics in mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting in their work Skilled knowledge in Database Software; Design software, Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software Experience capability in coordinating between diverse group of individuals including engineering, supply chain, purchasing, operators/technicians, and management Be able to clearly communicate problem statements, root cause analysis and corrective action solutions to stakeholders Be able to read drawings and applied knowledge of GD&T, and skilled knowledge of inspection equipment such as height gauges, CMMs, potable CMMs, laser trackers, etc. Skilled in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) as applied to quality inspection

Education and Experience

Four-year degree from an accredited college in a STEM discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven years Quality System Experience or other relevant Engineering experience including product development, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering or five years relevant experience with a master's degree.
