This role is ideal for someone with expertise in metal additive manufacturing materials and technologies, with interest in driving innovation and enabling subsequent technology adoption. This is done through research projects, technical review, whitepaper/ landscaping advisories, technology scouting and technology transfer. The application fields will be in areas of materials formulation and process development for additive manufacturing, and emerging topics related to trends in smart materials, sustainability and AI.
Job ResponsibilitiesLead R&D activities related to metal additive manufacturing materials and process development - identify alloys and develop print & post-processing recipe (print parameters, heat treatment, surface finish, etc), for various technologies (eg, DMLS, Binder Jet, DLP). Develop a deep understanding of metal additive manufacturing & metallurgy through comprehensive reviews, experimental and technology scouting. Conduct technical review, define project scope & project management of innovation projects to achieve technical and business goals. Author whitepapers, technology landscaping reports, and advisory documents to support TE’s strategic objectives and technology development. Launch proof-of-concept projects as appropriate. Engage with TE’s business units on key technical challenges and deliver solutions related to metal additive manufacturing & metallurgy. Support metal additive manufacturing deployment and technology transfer efforts. Oversee internal project documentation and compliance matters, including contracts, budget tracking, and technical reporting. Represent Singapore team in various forums, including technical conferences (internal & external) and senior management presentations, to share knowledge and innovations. Collaborate with other TE additive manufacturing center on Singapore activities. Job Requirements
Ph.D. / Master's in Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or a related field. Specialization in metal additive manufacturing and/or metallurgy is advantageous. 3-5 years of work experience leading technical project involving materials and/or process development in an industrial or corporate setting. Expertise in metal additive manufacturing technologies, metallurgy, materials formulation and related tools for materials characterization. Proven track proven of advancing R&D ideas through technology review, propose work scope, execution, partner selection, project management & technology transfer to achieve pre-defined technical & business objectives. Experience in scouting emerging technology through literature, patent landscapes, or conferences. Effective in verbal/written forms communication.
