Basic Function and Scope of the Position:
The Regional Product Marketing Manager is a key position within the Asia, Middle East and African (AMEA) Regional Marketing organization. This role is responsible for driving adoption and usage of Illumina’s Low Throughput (LT) sequencing platforms and related consumables across the region, which includes commercialisation and go-to-market strategies for this product portfolios across all segments.
The Regional Product Marketing Manager, AMEA will work closely with their marketing and commercial colleagues to ensure proper positioning of LT sequencing portfolio solutions, alignment of focus areas and support of the region’s commercial goals. This person will also ensure that the activities executed in AMEA are in line with and contribute to the overall targets of Illumina’s global marketing organization.
The individual will be responsible for: development of product marketing strategies, both short and medium-term, including planning and executing of regional strategies for new product introductions. A key element of the role will be collecting, evaluating, reacting to and communicating field information, communicating customer feedback to influence Illumina’s product development strategy and roadmap as well as commercial goals and objectives. This role will work closely with regional and global segment and product marketing and other functions across the organization to ensure all have appropriate visibility into upcoming launches, corporate priorities and assure alignment with global strategies.
The ideal candidate for this position will have industry-specific product marketing experience and demonstrated success and operational experience within AMEA. In this position, the candidate would have the opportunity to collaborate across multi-disciplinary, international teams and cultivate key partnerships with KOLs in support of strategic programs. Successful candidates will combine strong scientific understanding with strategic analysis, business acumen and leadership skills. A good understanding of the NGS market, applications, competitors and customer base is essential for the success of this individual.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Formulate the overall regional marketing strategy for low-throughput sequencing systems and reagents to support Illumina’s commercial goals across AMEA. Develop go-to-market strategies and drive execution of those strategies with clear milestones and action plans. Accountable for the success of the LT sequencing product portfolio in the region and attainment of specific revenue targets associated with that portfolio of products.Develop a strategic plan for the region that aligns to our global low-throughput platform strategy. Be the product champion for the region ensuring its needs are well represented and that global strategies are relevant and executable.Assess market potential and align company initiatives with Illumina’s strategic position, drive execution of medium-term strategy with clear milestones and action plans. Work collaboratively with the commercial teams across Illumina’s segments, business units and regulatory functions to direct Illumina's marketing strategy including product development and management, portfolio positioning, and sales enablement. Partner with commercial teams and the broader marketing team to execute marketing programs, events and campaigns related to low-throughput sequencing products. Ensure that there is alignment of activities and product strategies internally, as well as with channel partners (SCP’s) and other parties as well as clear metrics associated with delivery of these activities including the effectiveness of these activities. Translate those insights into compelling market messaging and positioning. Solicit and integrate the voice of the customer (VOC) into Illumina’s product development team to guide future commercialization potential. This would include customer visits with the commercial team to key accounts and building and managing close relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs). Work with all internal parties and stakeholders to monitor instrument pipeline and throughput of sequencing portfolio and design strategies to achieve or exceed expected growth for the LT sequencing portfolio.Stay current and report on competitor activities and market dynamics. Leverage and communicate market information internally to best inform Illumina’s product development, regulatory and market entry strategies.Responsible for collection, measurement evaluation and communication of information relating to the effectiveness of relevant marketing activities carried out across the region. Participates as a key member of the global platforms team and represents the voice of AMEA region back to the global PM team.Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Preferred Experience & Skills
BS/BA in biology or related field is required, PhD in genomics or related preferred, MBA or equivalent a plus2+ years experience in product marketing in Genomics or related fieldProven track-record of working constructively with sales Previous experience working with cross-functional teams, ability to influence across an organization at all levels, including previous experience in a highly matrixed organization would be preferred.Understanding of genomics technologies broadly, and deep understanding of NGS specifically.Experience in and familiarity with the NGS market including customer base, market segments, technologies and products, and applications.Previous experience in customer-facing role (sales, support, etc.) is preferredExcellent written and presentation skillsExpert understanding of regional needs, challenges and opportunities. Ability to articulate complex information to clientDeep connection with regional and international KOLs.
