Position Description
Provides diabetes nutrition education activities for inpatients, outpatients, and individuals and groups of patients with diabetes ranging in age from adolescence to adulthood. Coordinates the diabetes education plan with other team members, and acts as liaison to the primary nurse and physician. Serves as resource to other health professionals in the specified area of expertise for the purposes of staff development, patient care delivery, and Quality Improvement. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and weekend call. Must complete a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of continuing education in diabetes and education principles during initiation of hire and annually.
* The candidate must be open to floating to other locations at least twice a month.
* We have current openings at our Forsyth and Gwinnett locations.
Position Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations. Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:
BSN degree Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). One (1) year experience in Diabetes Care/Education Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.Service Area Overview
