Staff Software Development Engineer

Flexera is transforming the way enterprises deliver IT, and we’re looking for experienced and collaborative professionals to help us deliver on that promise by anticipating our customers' needs and solving real problems.

As a Staff Software Development Engineer, you will work across our technology stack, developing new features and being involved in the full product lifecycle from requirements gathering, architecture and design, UX and wireframes, to coding and testing.

 

What you'll do:

Design, implement, and unit test solutions written in C#.

Drive and influence architectural and design decisions within the team.

Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver product functionality that meets customer needs.

Work closely with other team members and the wider engineering organization on design iterations, code reviews, security, performance, testability, and interoperability.

Work closely with Technical Support to resolve customer issues. Investigate, analyze, and fix identified defects.

Debug complex problems reported by customers and automation failures and resolve them with appropriate release vehicles.

Support the team’s culture of respect, excellence, and trust; confidently promote our team’s principles and culture across the organization.

Guiding and mentoring the team in terms of code quality, design patterns, and general technical knowledge.

Ensure we employ fantastic testing and QA processes to minimize the risk of escaped defects.

 

You'll be expected to have:

10+ years of professional experience as a software engineer

Extensive experience in developing web applications.

Strong skills in SQL Server, especially around performance optimization and improvements.

Proficiency in C# and experience with microservice architectures.

Experience with AWS or other cloud services.

Ability to reason about software, algorithms, and performance from a high level.

Excellent communication skills to work within and across teams.

Experience building and using REST APIs.

Experience in Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development.

Ability to effectively work with a globally distributed team.

Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within and between teams.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Agile delivery experience and a willingness to work closely in an agile development model.

Highly desirable technical skills would include some experience with the following tools, technologies, and frameworks:

Jenkins

Jira

Git

C++

Virtualization technologies: VMWare, Oracle Virtualization Manager, etc.

Internet Information Services

Familiarity with SSL certificates, proxies, and WinHttp.

Experience in building with open-source code such as OpenSSL, Nmap, and PuTTY.

Understanding of database connectivity, including ODBC and connection strings.

Proficiency in troubleshooting network-related issues.
