Staff Software Engineer, Java and Kotlin Ecosystem

Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. + 8 years of experience in software development. + 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products. + 3 years of experience with software design and architecture. Preferred qualifications: + Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. + Experience building reusable, performant and reliable software. + Experience in one of library development, compilers, static analysis, programming languages, IDE plug-ins, or build systems. + Experience in infrastructure, API design, or code health. + Experience with Android, iOS, Web or Server development. + Experience working in Open Source. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. The Java and Kotlin Ecosystem team implements and maintains key libraries and tooling for Java and Kotlin development at Google. The team focuses on enabling first-party flagship App developers to use Kotlin multi-platform to multiply their impact by sharing code across Android, iOS, Web, and Servers. The team provides internal Kotlin specific development, build, and review tools and develops core libraries such as testing, logging, and collections. + Define technical and strategic direction for Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) libraries and tool-chains. + Guide adjacent engineers and align with partners on technical direction. + Develop and test KMP developer tools, libraries, and static analysis. Assist Google engineers with KMP development workflows across platforms. + Participate in and lead design reviews, scope problems, and recommend short and long-term solutions. + Review code, provide feedback on best practices, contribute to documentation, and resolve technical issues.
