Staff Software Engineer
## **About the role:** Engages with stakeholders across teams to lead the development and maintenance of backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber. ## **About the Team:** Uber is changing the way people think about transportation. We’re looking for engineers to join our team to help grow the UberEats Ads business which enables eaters to discover new foods, and restaurants to grow their customer base. You’ll work with teams behind apps used by millions globally every day. **Minimum qualifications:** - PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **AND** 2-years full-time Software Engineering work experience **OR** 5-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES** 3-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: - Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) - _Note the 3-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these).  The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated._ ## **Technical skills:** ## Required: - Distributed systems Preferred: - 7-years full-time Software Engineering work experience with experience working as a staff engineer - 2 years of experience in ads delivery, in one or more areas of budget pacing and bidding - Demonstrated examples of project leadership roles, delivering production-level features from inception, and promoting a high-quality culture amongst the team - Deep system design skills. You know how to build highly-scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant services that support our unique exponential growth requirements. - Demonstrated experience easily speaking to the operational aspects of monitoring, alerting, and structuring code for production-level debugging and optimization. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
