Your RoleTenable is looking for a Staff Software Engineer with strong experience in building reliable and performant SaaS platforms. In this position, you will be part of a team responsible for the design, development and operation of services and APIs for large scale Cloud Native SaaS applications. Our system's core architecture is an event-driven system that relies on Kafka and AWS SQS. We are using Kotlin and Go to build our microservices. We adhere to DevOps methodology relentlessly and have enabled the team to be fully autonomous. Our teams build and own products end-to-end.Your Opportunity:Growth and Development: As part of working on a small but strong team, you'll have a broad scope as a Staff software engineer. You will team up with engineers to drive initiatives, define the architecture, and build new features.Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, other engineers, designers, and stakeholders to continuously iterate on our products.Creativity: We welcome engineers who are motivated and come up with their own ideas to help us build a better product.Architecture & Design: Help with design decisions and the ability to understand and improve our engine performance and stability.Integrate an early-stage taskforce working with lightweight develop workflows and requiring a high-level of autonomy.Contribute not only to the teams' product and services but also improve the Continuous Delivery platform, shared libraries and tenables infrastructure.Constantly communicate with all parties involved in a project to ensure a high-quality product release.What You'll Need:Practical, hands-on, previous experience on a full-time engineering team using JVM-based languages. An understanding and working knowledge of Kotlin is highly preferredExperience leading and owning all technical aspects of a product end to endExperience contributing to products and libraries developed in Kotlin or Golang (backend, database, etc.)Experience building and running applications at enterprise scale in production.10+ years of software development experienceDevelopment experience working in cloud-based microservices environmentsOperational experience with microservices architectures and its associated design patternsStrong understanding of data structuresA DevOps mindset and desire to ship great software quicklyDesign high-availability services to streamline the processing of large sets of data Knowledge of modern DevOps services (Kubernetes services, Prometheus, etc.)Previous experience in queue-based architectures (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, etc.)Previous experience working with AWS services
