We are seeking an experienced Staff Engineer specializing in backend development to join our Tools & Data Science team. **Core Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related field) with 7+ years of experience, or 9+ years in a similar role. + 5+ years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Golang in public cloud environments (AWS preferred). + Expertise in NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch) and relational databases (e.g., MariaDB, MySQL). + Strong background in building scalable, reliable systems with test frameworks, monitoring, and alerting. + Skilled in UNIX/Linux command-line tools, CI/CD pipeline management. + Comfortable with a role focused on writing code (approximately 75% of the time). **Nice to Have** + 15+ years of experience in software engineering. + A language-agnostic approach to development. + Experience in full-stack development, including React. + Familiarity with event-driven workflows and schedulers (e.g., Apache Airflow). + Experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). + Knowledge of AWS serverless tools (e.g., SQS, Lambda, Glue, Spark). **Why Proofpoint** As a customer focused and driven-to-win organization with leading edge products, there are many exciting reasons to join the Proofpoint team.
