What you'll do...

Position: Staff Software Engineer

Job Location: 10500 NE 8th Street, 13th Floor, Bellevue, WA 98004

Duties: Develop and maintain internal tools and services. Own the end-to-end performance with a shift-left attitude through design, launch, and operation. Support architecture design, influence requirements, and help support new product launches. Tackle performance issues for cutting edge technologies, Analyze and debug difficult server-side performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and optimize product and service performance to improve user experience. Work with a large group of engineers from all disciplines to improve code base performance (e.g., algorithm redesign), reduce resource consumption, shorten request latency, and present findings to groups with varying degrees of technical and business experience. Provide visibility for all ecommerce sites. Run performance, resiliency, and capacity experiments to determine scaling and utilization parameters for various front-end and service tiers. Proactively investigate site performance issues in production and work with systems, network, application operations, and engineering teams to discover resolutions. Effectively collaborate and communicate for better performance governance across all teams in Walmart. Present performance-related findings to various teams, including C-level executives.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 6 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 3 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.

Skills required: Experience coding in Object-Oriented Programming languages: Python and Java. Experience developing load testing scripts using JMeter. Experience with Application Performance Monitoring using Dynatrace. Experience with log analytics using Elasticsearch. Experience with performance engineering across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and in DevOps. Experience with cloud computing providers, including Azure. Experience analyzing production systems. Experience with Automation Server (Jenkins). Experience with containerization platform Docker with Kubernetes. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $190,486/year to $264,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
