Meet Our Team:
The Cloud Support & Ops team (CSO) is part of the larger Operational Engineering group who is responsible for building a truly global, self-service cloud platform (PaaS) to enable Global Tech’s growing number of engineering teams to build, deploy, run and operate their services in a fully autonomous fashion. This team will be the first line support for Gobal Techs cloud-based developer platform, focusing on areas with heavy support load and manual processes. The CSO team will perform operations tasks like applying security patches to infrastructure and Terraform modules, support new product launches and adding new tenants and/or markets to the platform by provisioning new infrastructure like AWS resources, Ingress stack, etc following established runbooks.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Staff Engineer on the Cloud Support & Ops team (CSO) you'll be part of the larger Operational Engineering group who is responsible for building a truly global, self-service cloud platform (PaaS) to enable Global Tech’s growing number of engineering teams to build, deploy, run and operate their services in a fully autonomous fashion.
You will help drive technical decision-making, in support of the global cloud platform. You will focus on performing non-incident, business hour troubleshooting, reviewing pull requests, following runbooks to provision new infrastructure, onboarding assistance and light-weight solution architecting.
Play a leadership role on the team. You are known for your subject matter expertise across CSO technology
Perform operations tasks like applying security patches to infrastructure and Terraform modules.
Approve pull requests, modify security rules, etc
Supports new product launches and adding new tenants and/or markets to the platform by provisioning new infrastructure like AWS resources, Ingress stack, etc following established runbooks.
Provide mentoring to junior engineers.
You embrace constructive feedback from these groups and adapt to align with organizational standards and objectives.
What to Bring:
Bachelor’s degree (9-12 years) with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience working on a Cloud environment
Hands-on experience with at least one IaC tool (e.g. CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation)
Hands-on experience from working in a support ticketing system following runbooks and decision trees for triaging
Hands on experience with technologies on our stack including Java, Spring/Spring Boot
Operational experience (i.e. on-call rotation, incident response)
Ability to drive best practices and set standards for your team
