We focus on simplifying the instrumentation process, driving cross-product utilization, and ensuring users achieve value from day one. As a Staff Engineer on the Onboarding team you will play a key role in shaping the first impression of users on our platform. You will lead the development of scalable onboarding solutions, address complex integration challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product adoption. Your technical expertise and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that our onboarding processes meet the diverse needs of our customers and support Datadog in delivering exceptional value from day one.
What You’ll Do
Drive key initiatives to enhance the onboarding framework, ensuring seamless integration across Datadog’s product suite.
Guide architectural decisions, collaborate with other engineering teams, and contribute to the delivery of scalable, maintainable onboarding systems.
Partner with Product, Analytics, Design, and other stakeholders to develop user-friendly onboarding experiences that simplify instrumentation and promote cross-product adoption.
Navigate complex, ambiguous challenges to deliver timely, high-quality onboarding features that drive user satisfaction and product adoption.
Mentor across engineering teams and contribute to the professional growth of the Onboarding team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
Who You Are
You bring 10+ years of engineering experience in large, complex organizations, demonstrating a proven ability to solve unclear challenges across engineering groups.
You possess deep proficiency across multiple layers of the stake–front-end, back-end, and infrastructure–and have extensive backend development experience. You have built scalable and maintainable systems and have seen them through to customer outcomes.
You have 4+ years of technical leadership experience and you excel at mentoring and guiding engineering teams. You have a strong ability to influence and collaborate with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive critical projects to successful outcomes.
You are passionate about designing intuitive, user-friendly onboarding experiences that address customer needs and drive product adoption. You have a history of building solutions that deliver meaningful value from day one.
You have previously thrived in ambiguity, you’re at ease quickly navigating vague feedback, and you have carved clear paths to impactful solutions. Your proactive approach enables you to anticipate challenges and adapt strategies to meet evolving requirements effectively.
You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience.
