Working closely with Product partners and Engineering management, you will build technical solutions enhancing The RealReal’s on-platform experiences, helping the business acquire and activate high value customers. You will also work closely with Marketing and other business stakeholders to help build seamless and engaging customer journeys that optimize our marketing effectiveness. As a pivotal contributor, you'll be tasked with driving our software solutions' design, development, and implementation. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment, is passionate about building scalable and high-performance systems, and is eager to tackle complex challenges.
In this position, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our technology stack, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the delivery of robust, secure, and innovative products. Your contributions will directly impact the growth and success of our company as you work closely with cross-functional teams to align technology development with strategic business goals.
This role reports to the Engineering Manager of Growth and will be fully remote.

Design and Develop: Lead the architecture and development of software solutions, making strategic decisions that influence our technical direction.
Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technology development with business objectives, effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Code Review and Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous code reviews and advocate for best coding practices to ensure our products are efficient and maintainable.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and contributing to a culture of excellence.
Stay Ahead of the Curve: Research emerging technologies and trends in software engineering, identifying opportunities to enhance our projects and processes.
Problem-Solving: Address complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, anticipating potential issues to ensure smooth project execution.
What You Bring To The RoleMinimum Requirements:
At least 7 years of software development experience
Proven experience with the development, scaling, and maintenance of distributed systems
Solid understanding of software engineering principles, architectural design, and agile development methodologies
Excellent analytical abilities and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to work independently on complex issues
Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and concisely
Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of software development experience with a track record of successfully shipping consumer or business facing products
Strong background in Ruby on Rails or Elixir
Experience developing and implementing marketing technology (MarTech), in close collaboration with Product and Marketing teams
Experience working with Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams
Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.
Familiarity with AWS
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio.

The expected salary range for this role is $172,460.00-$215,575.00. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR’s total rewards package.
