Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking candidates for the position of Systems Engineer 5 in the Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD). This position will be located in either Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ.

The person selected for this position will be responsible for leading a system modeling team for a space vehicle product-line supporting multiple program & new business national-security pursuits in our Satellite Missions and Space Security Systems Business Units within Tactical Space Systems Division. The selected candidate will support technical systems-engineering work at the mission, vehicle, bus, subsystem, and component levels, spanning the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early operations, mission operations/sustainment, and system disposal. Programs/captures range from small feasibility studies to medium-sized on-orbit technology demonstrations and large-scale national systems.

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (and Model-Driven Engineering, more broadly) is gaining more visibility as the preferred systems engineering approach for space system architects and engineers within both industry and government. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading system modeling efforts performed by multi-disciplinary teams for complex, space- and ground-system development programs by maturing both descriptive system models & analytical models & building a cadre of capable systems & software engineers that can perform their responsibilities “in the model”. This position utilizes abilities to interact in an organized and solutions-oriented manner, with external entities who are contributing elements of the integrated system.
