Job Description
Visa’s Data Products enable our clients win more with their consumers through data and analytics. As Staff Systems Engineer, you will be part of Corporate Applications Technology team under Visa Technology Organization and will help to build centralized and decentralized Business Intelligence platforms that will strengthen Visa’s position as market leader for the future and build customer loyalty based on added value with insightful data.

You will be responsible for creating and implementing best practices, finding areas of improvements, and coordinating multiple work streams.

As we embark on the journey, we are looking for a Staff Systems Engineer who is technically hands on and can help to build and maintain enterprise BI platforms.
Essential Functions:
Understand the Payments industry and Visa's vision, strategy and how your role will make an impact.Understand the business initiatives and their importance to the growth of Visa.Develop a good understanding of the Visa's Business Intelligence platforms.Evaluate technical options and provide recommendation on scope and scale of effort required to develop an end-to-end solution based on the requirements.Be able to understand and influence System Design by collaborating with Operations and Infrastructure (O&I), Security and Data Privacy stakeholders.Be responsible for the overall development life cycle of the solution and build and deploy high-quality Business Intelligence Platforms that are scalable.Actively participate in defining architecture and creating solution documents, be hands-on with low level design, code review, coding, unit testing, production deployment and support activities.Deliver efficient and high quality solutions.Ability to identify and manage risks at all stages of the project and work with stakeholders to mitigate these risks.Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards, processes and systems.Manage access controls, set up and maintain the BI platform, and ensuring the system's overall health and performance using usage reports.Document all processes, methodologies, and instructions related to the BI Platform. Ensure documentation is kept up-to-date and is accessible to relevant stakeholders.Mentor junior team members and End User support and training.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
•6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhDExperience in understanding the requirements and independently, architect, design and build large scale resilient enterprise Business Intelligence Platforms.In-depth understanding of Tableau Server architecture, including internal processes and services.Extensive experience with Tableau Server installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance.Proven track record of managing Tableau Server in both on-premises and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).Experience with implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for Tableau Server.Expertise in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting of Tableau Server.Proficient with Tableau Server Command Line Interface (CLI), REST API, extensions and automation scripts.Strong programming and scripting skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.Advanced knowledge of data security best practices, including user authentication and authorization, data encryption, and compliance.Proficiency in database management and SQL programming, with experience in working with various databases (e.g., Hadoop Hive, AtScale, Presto, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Redshift, Snowflake).Experience with monitoring tools and practices for Tableau Server performance and usage analytics.Expertise in data visualization best practices and the ability to guide business users to develop impactful dashboards and reports using Tableau Prep and Tableau Desktop.Experience in building and implementing governance solutions with automations.Experience in Microsoft Fabric (Power BI), Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE/OAS) and Haver Analytics Platform administration will be an advantage and preferred.Request, Incident, Problem and Change Management process. End User training and support.Certifications in Tableau Server & Desktop.Gen AI knowledge and experience in implementing solutions using GenAI in BI Platform is a plus.Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and support junior team membersA commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest Tableau features, enhancements, and industry trends.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 124,700.00 to 180,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
