Staffing Support Spec

JOB SUMMARY

The Staffing Support Specialist assists in the management and coordination of Nursing and institutional resources to ensure effective patient care and Nursing operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Performs various administrative functions in partnership with management to ensure smooth and effective operations.Acts as liaison with ancillary departments such as Environmental Services, Maintenance, Transportation, and Food and Nutrition to ensure that staff and patient needs are met.Assists nursing management by making hospital rounds, responding to emergency codes, and communicating with staff as needed.Implements and completes processes for accurate documentation, reporting, and disposition of patient death. Interacts with families and staff to provide assistance and obtain information for the Death Information/Donor Notification process following regulatory requirements.Contacts the Organ Procurement Organization and provides requested information.Partners with nursing staff and Hospital Supervisor as necessary to identify staffing needs by reviewing census, staffing patterns, and call-ins for each unit. Communicates staffing issues as appropriate to unit Head(s).Initiates obtaining needed staff from Float Pool, reassignment, and/or requesting employees to work additional hours.Monitors overtime usage and utilizes overtime or cancels staff as appropriate to meet staffing needs and control cost. Updates One Staff scheduling program each shift to maintain current staffing information.Monitors supplies usage and reorders as necessary.

- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
