In this role you will assemble/disassemble, relocate, and maintain sets and props while working closely with the production staff. The Stagehand will report to the Production Manager.
YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)
Assemble, dismantle, and store scenery, set pieces and propsLoad and unload props and materials from trucksSet up lighting, props, and microphonesMove and rearrange furnitureUnload and set up road casesConstruct and paint set piecesSet up risers and musical equipmentEnsure props are affixed properlyAssist with video, sound, and lighting production needs, such as, setting up video monitors and sound equipmentEnsure props are present at beginning of scene and taken away at endSet up flatsWork with electricians and lighting assistantsHelp carpenters build and install sceneryClean up stage and backstage area after performanceRead/follow rundown for show to anticipate show needsMaintain on headset for directions from crewMust obtain proper certification in operation of various types of lifts, such as, scissor lifts, single man lifts, and forkliftsMust consistently utilize required Personal Protective Equipment, such as steel toed shoes and gloves and comply with all safety rulesYOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)
High school or GED equivalentAbility to push, pull and lift 50 poundsAbility to climb laddersAbility to work outdoors year roundBasic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systemsWork in team environmentPerform well under pressureAbility to handle a variety of toolsPainting skillsTroubleshooting skillsGood communication skillsBi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferredAs this position supports 24x7 operation, candidate must, in addition to being able to work regular hours, have on-call availability, and flexibility to work days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed and without advance notice. Additionally, candidate may be required to work on site for extended periods of time to provide coverage in special circumstances, such as, during tropical storm/hurricane or breaking news.OUR BENEFITS:
