Standby Driver (Full-Time)

The Driver Standby on duty is responsible for light, medium and heavy standby support on a 24hr rotated shift and should be prepared to leave the TMP with 20 minutes of request/notification by established authority to pick-up passenger(s)/cargo and stranded vehicles/drivers, maintaining TMP lots during inclement weather, as directed duties by Dispatcher/Management.

Responsibilities

Ability to react to vehicle breakdown and/or emergency commitments with less within 20 minutes of notification.

Maintain a full driver’s uniform on the premises while on duty.

Prepare and clean U-Drive vehicles for issue.

Ability to drive all GSA/Tactical vehicles in fleet including but not limited to light, medium, heavy, LMTVs, PCs, HMMWVs, Water Buffalos, Snow Equipment, and Trackless sweeper/snow blower

Relieve the Dispatcher during meals and breaks.

Ability perform all dispatch tasks and complete all Dispatch tasks/paperwork to assist Dispatcher during high volume periods including but not limiting to SAMs dispatching.

Perform as Dispatcher on days when Dispatcher in not present.

Responsibility for snow and ice clearing in the TMP facility and entrance road (off Route 293) including but not limited to plowing, salting, sanding, shoveling during inclement weather and respond likewise to any other type of inclement weather

Daily duties as directed by the Dispatcher and /Management including but not limited to Dispatch tasks, cleaning/moving vehicles, updating/documenting paperwork, Taxi Dispatching and Services.

Jump-start vehicles, after normal duty hours.

Record POL readings and Title V inspections on designated forms.

Check vehicles for unrecorded damage during pre/post checks taking pictures as necessary and ensure unrecorded damage is documented/reported in accordance with Government/Company policy; inspect the vehicle log book for proper mileage entries.

Assist the Driver Examiner during peak workload and absence.

Mandatory overtime may be required.

Perform building and Security Inspections within the TMP facility, including the POL on post and document inspections.

Operate and inspect the Car Wash for proper operation and security; complete any water usage paperwork.

Inspect parking areas and insure they are properly utilized.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED

New York State Driver’s License, CDL B w/P Endorsement

Current DOT Medical Examiner Card.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Must be able to operate a two-way radio dispatch control system.

Knowledgeable of and compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to the safe operation of motor vehicles.

Computer literate and ability to maintain government CAC card.

Standby qualified.

Pay Range

$34.94
