As the State Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Coordinator, you will have the opportunity every day to make a positive and meaningful impact by providing critical direction to State agencies. In this role, your guidance and direction will ensure agency compliance with the Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Family and Medical Leave (FML), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)), and the Maine Human Rights Act. You will collaborate with Management and other HR Professionals to resolve employee complaints in these areas and may conduct or oversee investigations and/or management reviews.
In addition to the competencies below, this position requires strong communication skills, ability to maintain effective working relationships, critical thinking ability, strong writing skills, and the ability to multi-task and travel statewide as necessary.
While no two days are the same, on any typical day you will:
+ Work with HR Managers, HR Directors and State employees on Family Medical Leave matters, Americans with Disabilities accommodations and statewide reassignments as an accommodation;
+ Lead and/or support personnel investigations into complaints of discrimination or harassment (e.g. speak with witnesses and write investigation reports); and
+ Partner with a team of Compliance experts dedicated to making the State of Maine the Employer of Choice in Maine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience in EEO Compliance (Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Family and Medical Leave Act, or other comparable state or federal laws).
+ Experience in conducting internal personnel investigations.
+ Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with groups and in a leadership role.
Preference will be given to those applicants with:
+ Experience working with a large employer in an human resources capacity and/or
+ A law degree (Juris Doctor).
