State Tax Analyst

Job Summary
• This role is responsible for leading complex tax planning initiatives and research and overseeing the preparation and filing of highly complex federal and state tax estimates and returns. The role advises global functions on tax matters and contributes to compliance procedures. The role assists in tax planning, maintains communication with senior leaders, engages with tax authorities and external advisors, and drives best practices in tax provision and compliance.

Responsibilities
• Leads diverse tax planning initiatives and research, encompassing tasks like estimated tax projections and other projects that involve a high degree of complexity.
• Prepares and files highly complex monthly, quarterly, or annual federal and state tax estimates and returns, including preparation, reconciliations, and processing of payment requests.
• Acts as an advisor to the organization’s global functions regarding tax-related concerns and assists in setting up compliance procedures.
• Assists in tax planning activities, including identifying tax-saving opportunities, evaluating tax implications of business decisions, and providing recommendations to minimize tax liabilities.
• Oversees research efforts, documents comprehensive tax structures across the organization and maintains regular communication with senior business leaders.
• Assists in addressing notifications from different tax authorities and maintains direct interactions with these authorities regularly while also engaging with external tax advisors serving the organization.
• Assists in developing best practices between tax provision and tax compliance areas regarding data, timing, systems coordination, automation, and accuracy.
• Identifies and researches tax planning opportunities and participates on special projects assigned.
• Contributes innovative ideas and may lead large cross-functional teams, exercising independent judgment to solve unique and complex problems impacting the business.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to lower-level employees, thus ensuring the realization of operational and strategic plans.

Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in finance, accounting, tax, audit, or a related field.

The base pay range for this role is $130,350 to $200,750 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
