Job Summary
The Station Engineer is responsible for performing engineering work and supporting Facility Ratings compliance requirements in line with NERC Reliability Standards FAC-008-3 R6. This role ensures safe, effective, and efficient project execution while maintaining compliance with facility ratings documentation and methodologies.Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Provide engineering support for substation capital projects.Conduct grounding, lightning shielding, and lighting studies.Prepare station configurations and layouts.Collaborate with project planners to develop substation solutions.Develop functional and detail scoping documents with project stakeholders.Assist project managers with station engineering activities and deliverables using Primavera P6 project schedules.Oversee internal designers or consulting engineering firms on select projects.Support construction and professional field service personnel during project phases.Collaborate across various departments throughout project lifecycles.Facilities Ratings Responsibilities:
Work with stakeholders to resolve data integrity and error issues related to facility ratings.Create training materials for facility ratings processes.Train employees and contractors on facility ratings applications and compliance-related data management.Provide ongoing technical assistance for data error tracking and compliance documents.Coordinate data input analysis and issue resolution across multidisciplinary teams.Principal Accountabilities:
Strong knowledge of substation electrical engineering, design, and equipment is preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel, PowerBI, and Cognos for complex reporting.Experience with IPS Energy Asset Management software is preferred.Familiarity with computer-aided design software is desirable.Minimum Requirements:
Engineer (Grade 07) has typically acquired four (4) or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET**; or two (2) years of related engineering experience along with a Master’s degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET** .
*Individuals with a PhD in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
*Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
**ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternatives are:
(1) a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or
(2) a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.
** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
