The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Station Monitoring Technician. This individual will monitor, report, and ensure the on-air product of the station group. Day-to-day responsibilities include actively monitoring multiple video streams, data streams, and centralized systems to ensure stations broadcast quality video and audio throughout multiple company-owned & operated television stations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Actively monitor multiple video and data streams to ensure stations are broadcasting quality video and audio
Periodically verify audio is present and coherent for our audience
Quickly troubleshoot station issues as they occur, applying backup configurations to reduce station downtime
Communicate with local station staff in a clear and precise manner regarding issues
Document all station discrepancies by collecting data from monitoring and analysis tools, as well as from engineers and operators
Generate and maintain trouble tickets in an issue management system to create detailed reports for various corporate departments
Monitor the quality of multiple data connections to remote sites and organize the appropriate processes to correct any variances
Performing broad LAN, WAN, and fiber circuit analysis
Communicate and coordinate with multiple station, regional, and engineering staff regarding projects such as engineering systems upgrades or preventive outage preparations
Assist with setup, troubleshooting, repair, and integration of engineering systems
Verify file transfers of on-air content to multiple remote stations
Verify as-run logs to ensure accuracy and timing
Monitor playlist elements to ensure that they will be ready for transmission at the required time; follow up by reporting missing items, and identify and report programming discrepancies
Answer, direct, and/or respond to emails and phone calls
Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
High school diploma or GED required
1 to 2 years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
Familiarity with television broadcast experience preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Must be able to multitask and be detailed oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
Desire to learn and be self-motivated
Ability to interpret and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Ability to analyze current systems for improvement
Ability to perform broad LAN, WAN, and fiber circuit analysis
Strong problem-solving ability
Strong proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to type 25 or more words per minute
Familiarity with FCC broadcasting rules is a plus

Must have a flexible work schedule to work any time in a 24/7 operation (nights, weekends, holidays, short notice)
