Position Objective: This position is responsible for performing inspections of Metro-North’s stations and facilities to identify items and conditions that require repair or maintenance to keep Metro-North Railroad stations and facilities in good repair. Responsibilities: + Perform daily inspections of Metro-North’s stations and facilities on a cyclical basis . + Prepare and submit detailed reports and photographs pertaining to inspections and findings on a daily basis . + Generate material and equipment lists to be used by maintenance forces to accomplish required tasks . + Maintain a database of observed defects and repairs to be utilized for creating task orders and monitoring repairs. Required Qualifications: Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: + Basic understanding of carpentry, masonry, sheet metal , electrical, and plumbing fundamentals and ability to recognize defects in the same. + Basic knowledge of structural components commonly found in stations or similar structures. + Ability to take accurate measurements. + Ability to work in varied railroad environments (i.e., right-of-ways, platforms, confined spaces, etc) and varied tours of duty. + Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and with little supervision. + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Knowledgeable of MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel) or comparable applications. + Must possess a valid driver’s license. Required Education and Experience: + Associate degree in Engineering or related field. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education , and/or technical credentials may be considered in lieu of a degree to include 2 additional years of related experience. + Minimum one (1) year experience in building maintenance or building maintenance programs, construction, or related field. The following is/are preferred, but other satisfactory combinations of relevant experience, education, and/or technical credentials will be considered: + 3+ years experience in building maintenance, construction , or related fields Other Information This position is safety-sensitive and subject to toxicological testing.
