Steam Plant Optimization Engineer – Columbus, NE

  Position Summary:

The Steam Plant Optimization Engineer is a salaried, exempt-level position based in Columbus, NE or various potential locations in North America.

This role reports to the North American Utilities Manager and is responsible for analyzing operational failure/underperformance, identifying efficiency opportunities, and aligning solutions for boilerhouse/powerhouse locations within the United States and Canada. 

  Essential Job Functions:Drive compliance with ADM safety, health, quality, and environmental programs and policiesFoster regional boiler process improvement initiativesProvide opportunities for continuous improvement projects within the Wave pipeline contributing to our run rate goals and objectivesDrive achievement of ADM (Strive 35) sustainability goals (energy/carbon improvements)Engage/research/develop, industry boiler and turbine technologies and resources for targeted deployment, that improve efficiency and increase optimizationSupport achievement of utility related OEE and run-rate savings KPIParticipate as SME during capital project development, equipment selection and design review processesSupport regional and business unit strategies for utility operation – reliability, efficiency and KPI achievementCoordinate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and various levels of management. (RCM, CAPEX, Automation, Tech Centers and Internally within UCoE - Water/Energy/Electrical)  Critical Knowledge:BS Engineering in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or equivalentMaster’s degree (either MBA or Engineering) is a plus2+ years of direct experience with boilers, turbines, chillers, cooling towers, and feedwater makeup chemistryFinancial valuation experience rationalizing and evaluating capital investmentsFamiliarity with technical aspects of renewable energy generation systemsExperience in ADM PE, FEL, and WAVE systems preferred  Critical Skills:Personally committed to working safely and maintaining a safe working environmentContinuous process improvement mindset driving best practices and reliabilityExcellent written/verbal communication and positive interpersonal skillsTask oriented and self-motivated, able to function without direct supervisionWork effectively as part of team or independentlyWell-developed independent judgment and problem solvingExcellent organizational skills, able to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks  Critical Abilities:Demonstrated ability to drive development and compliance with SOP’s and safe work practicesDemonstrated ability to explain and drive compliance with jurisdictional code requirementsDemonstrated ability to recognize, assess, and provide opportunities for boiler efficiency and optimizationPerform overnight travel (25%)Excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed?
