Job Description
Seeking a CAD Draftsman/Detailer responsible for producing CAD drawings and steel components for buildings such as railings, platforms, stairs, tool devices, screen guards, decorative metal, and ladders. The role involves revising and updating existing drawings, replacing steel components, and creating new construction drawings. This person will prepare shop, fabrication, and erection drawings for submittal and production, as well as material lists and bills of materials for construction projects.
ResponsibilitiesRevise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes.Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other project documentation and implement that information in the design.Serve as an information source on planning and design of equipment installations, equipment, and plant engineering.Field measure existing job sites and utilize those measurements to generate accurate fabricating and erection drawings.Identify any problems with a project’s design and write clear, concise RFIs to find solutions.Work closely with shop and field personnel to solve problems during fabrication or erection as they may arise.Collaborate with internal program coordinator to meet or exceed project deadlines.Essential Skills2+ years of Steel Detailing experience.Experience with AutoCAD or similar 3D software.Experience preparing shop and erection drawings.Experience producing drawings and steel components for buildings such as railings, platforms, stairs, tool devices, screen guards, decorative metal, and ladders.Knowledge of structural steel detailing and fabrication.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Tekla software.Degree in Technology Management or Structural/Civil Engineering.Revit or BIM experience.Knowledge of ExSteel.Understanding of AISC standards.NISD (National Institute of Steel Detailing) certification.Work Environment
The work environment includes a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, fully onsite with the opportunity to earn a work-from-home day. Flexible start and end times are available between 6 am and 6 pm. The team consists of skilled craftsmen building ornamental architectural metal products for bridges, buildings, and streetscapes out of various metals including steel, aluminum, stainless, and bronze.
