Position OverviewThe Category Manager is responsible for development and implementation of procurement strategies for various categories, which are in alignment with Project objectives for cost, quality, schedule, etc. The position will focus on achieving “best cost” while improving efficiencies throughout the procurement process to drive savings across the company.

Kiewit Supply Network group specializes in providing comprehensive procurement services to clients across the construction and engineering industries in multiple markets, including transportation; water/wastewater; power; oil, gas and chemical; building; and mining. Our key objectives are to offer clients a world-class service focused on ensuring equipment, materials and services are consistently estimated and procured at the right price. LocationThis position is based out of Kiewit Headquarters in Omaha, NE. We are also willing to consider candidates who can work out of our office in Lenexa, KS, Houston, TX or Lone Tree, CO. This is a shared service environment in a professional office setting. We do not offer remote/hybrid options or relocation assistance for this position.
Responsibilities Develop category strategy to achieve financial savings targets through detailed analysis of the category portfolio including consolidation of supplier base and spend across all geographical areas. Closely monitor the global supply market with regards to pricing & commodity trends, supplier capacity, supplier news, industry news and new product developments. Aggressively pursue defined Category Management (CM) strategy in order to ensure competitive advantage for Kiewit and to position Kiewit as a market leader and preferred client of our key suppliers. Proactively challenge current procurement practices to drive improved results. Build wide and effective networks of contacts inside and outside the organization. Ensure that strategies for assigned categories evolve to adequately address changing market conditions. Negotiate Master Agreements with key suppliers. Execute supplier management programs with key suppliers including the development of performance metrics (Spend/Saving Tracker, KPI's, SLA's, etc.), performance goals and improvement initiatives. Monitor and report on supplier performance and compliance. Understand every aspect of the supply chain and notify the senior management team of any possible obstacles to ideal efficiency. Perform cost analysis and set appropriate benchmarks for suppliers and commodities against Kiewit projects and districts.Qualifications 5-10 years of experience in an engineering and/or construction related role. (Preferred) Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent degree from an accredited university (Preferred) Extensive expertise in procurement, estimating, business, and leadership. Strong functional knowledge of ERP systems, including ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized Self-motivated, driven to succeed, strong critical thinker, and able to think and communicate in terms of process flow. Preferred: Experience in the steel industry, wWith a solid background in procurement and supply chain management.
