Steel Department Head

We are assisting a client in Bahrain looking for a Steel Department Head.
Job Scope:
To ensure that all steel works in the Yard are carried out in accordance with the specification to high quality standards required by Classification Societies and Yard standards specified through ISO 9001, at minimum cost and within scheduled repair time. To ensure safe working practices are always maintained.
Responsibilities: Oversees all steel works are carried out in the Plate Shop, onboard and other areas in the Yard and ensure that high level of productivity is achieved in accordance with the specifications at minimum cost and within strict time schedules. Holds daily meetings with his Section Heads and Supervisors to check the progress of the work, provide technical advice, define job priorities, and ensures quality of the work meets ISO 9001 standards, and Classification Societies requirements. Attends the daily Production meeting to provide updates on situations regarding steel works and inform jobs completion times. Advises Commercial Division through Acting Director-Production on the feasibility of performing specific jobs in the tenders from the ship owners. Discusses with Project Managers/Project Coordinators/Superintendents the priority of work and the methods to carry out specific jobs. Regularly visits ships/rigs, workshops, and yard installations to check progress of the ongoing jobs and give technical advice, wherever needed.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience: University Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering. Minimum Ten years’ experience in steel fabrication jobs in large-scale ship repair yard in a senior positions.
