The PBL Coach will support K-5 teachers in implementing effective Project Based Learning strategies within their classrooms, guiding them through the process of designing engaging, student-centered projects, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring students are actively engaged in meaningful inquiry and problem-solving to achieve deep learning outcomes. The PBL coach will also help coordinate professional development opportunities for our teachers.
The PBL Coach will lead the process of identifying and supporting students identified as gifted in K-5. Responsibilities will include overseeing and coordinating the educational programming for gifted students, identifying gifted learners, developing differentiated curriculum, collaborating with teachers to ensure appropriate enrichment, and evaluating the effectiveness of gifted education programs, all while maintaining communication with parents and administrators to advocate for the needs of gifted students. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree by August 1, 2025 Teaching License by August 1, 2025 Strong communication skills Experience with Project Based Learning Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree Essential Functions and percent of time: 60% Meet with teachers individually and in small groups to support them as they plan, implement and evaluate high-quality PBL Create systems for tracking coaching session completion and project documentation. Maintain records of coaching sessions and project examples to share with the Superintendent/CAO, Elementary Principal, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and other administrators. Communicate regularly with staff with reminders to schedule coaching sessions. Communicate important updates or specific needs to the Superintendent/CAO, Elementary Principal, and Director of Strategic Partnerships as needed. 20% Lead gifted services for elementary school Develop process for identifying gifted students. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding gifted identification and services. Assist teachers in developing best practices for serving gifted students.
10% Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality project-based learning professional development Meet regularly with the Superintendent and Elementary Principal to determine goals and scope of PBL PD and to monitor its impact. Assist with planning project-based learning training for new teachers. Coordinate and schedule Project Tuning Protocol presentations at staff meetings. Work with Training Center Coordinator, when needed, to plan PD logistics including teacher-led facilitators, reserving space, creating/purchasing materials, coordinating hospitality, communicate with staff members impacted by training (front office, teachers), etc. 10% Other Administrative Support Attend administrative team meetings. Support Dayton Regional STEM School school-wide events such as Exhibition Night, Career Fair, Open House, etc. Provide additional day-to-day schoolwide support as requested by Superintendent, Principals and other members of administrative team.
