The Sterile Processing Department at Wilmington Hospital is currently looking for a Sterile Processing Manager to join their team and work the Day Shift from Monday to Friday. This is a salaried position with a yearly manager incentive. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the 24-hour operations of the campus-specific Sterile Processing department (SPD) within Christiana Care Health Services and will also lead all aspects of regulatory compliance for the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Provides coordination and monitoring of all sterilization activities and functions performed in Sterile Processing Departments.

Leads technical functions in designated units.

Ensures consistent, high-quality instrument processing and tray production in a case cart environment.

Ensures all customer service expectations are met or exceeded and meets with customers regularly.

Assures compliance with regulatory and professional standards.

Provides mentorship and direction to the perioperative leadership team regarding internal and external SPD-related regulatory standards.

Identifies priorities of management responsibilities and demonstrates the ability to delegate.

Performs routine rounds on assigned units to establish visibility and partnership, and supervise the level of practice.

Always stay vigilant about risk management issues and take detailed and effective measures to address them.

Supports and communicates Perioperative and unit-based PI initiatives.

Design solutions to support newly developed SPD processes.

Analyzes current departmental programs and provides direction in attaining outcomes with a systems goal approach.

Promotes the autonomy of our caregivers, encouraging independent decision-making and problem-solving.

Supports and facilitates a culture of staff engagement and involvement in the unit.

Formulates and optimally drives innovative leadership strategies to promote excellence.

Responsible for unit position control, scheduling, and allocating paid time off to meet staffing needs for the department

Interviews and hires potential employees, assuring the technical and professional development of the staff.

Coaches, disciplines, and evaluates staff according to CCHS policy.

Ensuring detailed maintenance of employee files, including staff certification records.

Coordinating and facilitating vibrant monthly staff meetings, optimally communicating all crucial information."

Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information.

Demonstrates fiscal accountability.

Optimally applies available and developing technology to improve operations and reduce costs.

Develop the unit budget in collaboration with the Periop. Leadership.

Facilitates harmonious and synergic relationships among departments to ensure effective value and quality patient care delivery.

Demonstrates and promotes positive interpersonal communication skills all the time.

Maintains a coordinated and synergistic working relationship with customers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, nursing or business management field.Professional certification in an SPD specialty required (CRCST) and CHLFive years of appropriate technical experience, leadership and project management experience.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
