Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring that all reusable supplies, such as, instruments, equipment, linen, and surgical supplies are properly decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, and distributed. This position includes cleaning and disinfecting the Operating Room or procedural area between patients though-out the day. It includes the reprocessing of instruments in the Operating Room environment utilizing immediate use steam sterilization or per-acetic acid and maintaining the standards of reprocessing at the level utilized in the Central Processing Department, when possible. Responsible for the washing, decontaminating, inspecting, washing, assembling trays, sterilizing, and distribution of instruments/equipment according to ANSI/AAMI standards. Utilizes appropriate PPE for each task. Follows MFI for all sterilization practices. Accountable to clean and test all sterilizers/equipment in central processing and the Operating Room. Accurately records items processed; monitors and vierifies accurate load function. Accountable to know and perform a recall if necessary. Acts as a resource for the Operating Room staff and all other departments within the hospital. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Certification by HSPA required within 18 months of hire Preferred Job Requirements: Previous hospital experience Knowledge of medical terminology
