Location: Chelsea Hospital
Position Summary
Cleans, assembles, wraps and sterilizes instrumentation for the Hospital. Assembles case carts and maintains supplies within Instrument Care.
Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure
1) Minimum of high school diploma
2) Completion from a sterile processing technology or related program is required. Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician is required within 2 years of employment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea/Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
Maintains knowledge to perform the duties of the job. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

Provides quality control monitoring per infection control policies to assure sterilization of instruments.
Documents department related information according to Hospital and Department standards.
Maintains department supplies in a cost effective manner.
Assembles Case Carts as required. On-Call is required
