Our **Sterile Processing** department wants to add a **Sterile Processing Tech** to their great team. + Days, Monday - Friday + 0800-1630 + Weekend/Holiday rotation **Overview** Opened in 2007, **Progress West Hospital** is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care. Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks. Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics. **Preferred Qualifications** **Role Purpose** The Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of central sterile processing functions, which include the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to the operating room (OR) and other areas throughout the hospital. Required to maintain and control both sterile and non-sterile supplies, and identify and remedy equipment and process failures and hazards while maintaining the appropriate and complete records. **Responsibilities** + Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule. + Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers. + Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process. + Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards. + Ensures instrumentation is reassembled correctly and functioning properly. + BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
