High performing in a specialty means we were in the top 10% nationally of all evaluated hospitals for that specialty or procedure and condition. _Northwest HealthCare_ , six miles west of Christian, offers 24- hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services. Central Sterile Processing Department sterilizes the instruments for surgery and other departments and take cases to surgery. **Preferred Qualifications** **Role Purpose** The Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of central sterile processing functions, which include the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to the operating room (OR) and other areas throughout the hospital. Required to maintain and control both sterile and non-sterile supplies, and identify and remedy equipment and process failures and hazards while maintaining the appropriate and complete records. **Responsibilities** + Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule. + Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers. + Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process. + Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards. + Ensures instrumentation is reassembled correctly and functioning properly. + BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
