Shift: Monday - Friday 1:00p - 9:00p

The Sterile Processing Technician performs and participates in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of surgical materials to include, but not limited to, instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials.

Documentation meets current standards, policies and procedures and is completed within shift.

Ability to navigate the clinical information systems as needed to perform job duties.

Adheres to hospital and departmental policy for reporting and handling malfunctioning equipment

Monitoring supplies to ensure availability of appropriate supplies for patient care and departmental operations

Maintains a clean and orderly environment in the perioperative department including break room and locker rooms.

Recognizes department problems and uses critical thinking skills to take appropriate actions.

Maintains positive interdepartmental relationships while communicating and coordinating patient care activities.

Serves as a change agent by cooperatively adopting new processes determined through quality improvement initiatives.

Voluntarily cross-trains, covers for, and assists with other duties and departmental functions within his/her scope of practice and not covered by his/her job description.

Is consistently ready and prepared for assigned patient care responsibilities.

Answers telephone, responds to e-mails, and greets internal and external customers in a timely and friendly manner.

Carries own share of responsibilities and willingly offers assistance to others.

Is available at scheduled work time on scheduled day and voluntarily works during non-scheduled times as a response to departmental or hospital staffing needs.

Adheres to employee safe workplace practices and identifies and reports safety concerns to supervisor.

Assists in the on-boarding of new stakeholders with a positive and inclusive attitude reflective of COH values.

Recognizes and follows chain of command for addressing and resolving departmental issues

Effectively communicates with peers to resolve conflict in a manner that prevents departmental involvement.

Education Requirements

High School Graduate or equivalent

Minimum Experience

Sterile Processing experience preferred

Certification or eligibility for certification preferred
