Sterile Processing Technician Supervisor

Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Supervisor to join the team. 

The Sterile Processing Supervisor uses critical thinking to solve complex issues and support OR needs. Acts as a liaison between the OR and SPD, facilitating all instrumentation being ready on time, and supporting all customers of the department. Assists staff with performance improvement. Assures compliance with infection control and sterilization standards, ensuring that sterilization practices and all equipment used for decontamination and sterilization meet quality standards. Directly supervises sterile processing personnel during specified shifts, facilitating staff and departmental efficiencies while monitoring the daily operations of the department to ensure that appropriate quality and productivity levels are achieved. Ensures compliance with infection control policies and AAMI, AORN, and JCAHO standards. 

This is a full-time Monday-Friday various shifts position.

Job Responsibilities:

Investigates problems/concerns and utilizes proactive problem-solving to meet customer needs.   In collaboration with the OR charge nurse, reviews OR schedules and add-on cases, anticipating needs and/or conflicts with instrumentation, and offers alternative instrumentation as indicated. Collaborates with Unit Management and sales representatives to coordinate loaner instrumentation and product evaluation/changes.  Collects and analyzes data to improve work processes and makes recommendations to resolve problems and facilitate desired outcomes.  Observes work in progress to ensure that all equipment is fully operational, work areas are clean and orderly, and that proper supply levels are maintained. 

Qualifications:

 Experience:

Three (3) year of experience in sterile processing/and or OR Technician.

Education:

High School or GED.

Certifications:

CRCST or CBSPD certification. Certification from The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).  Certified Sterile Processing Management (CSPM) or Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) within 12 months of hire.
