Summary :The Sterile Processing Trainer performs and participates in onboarding new team members, sterile processing work flow functions, implementation and maintenance of instrument tracking, and department educational requirement compliance. Educates and monitors team members to ensure adherence to hospital policy and regulatory standards.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Is responsible for development, planning, implementation, and evaluations of orientation, education, and training to meet the needs of sterile processing.

Supports professional growth and development of team members in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory standards.

Coordinates educational in-services and training ensuring competency and coordination of validation tracers.

Coordinates and performs orientation for new hires ensuring compliance with regulations.

Collaborates regularly with team members, sterile processing supervisor and manager, periop, and the hospital education department about education, workflow, and quality initiatives.

Collects and maintains educational documentation per hospital policy and regulatory standards.

Creates educational resource material ensuring regulatory and manufacturer instruction for use (IFU) adherence.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED preferred • Must be 18 years of age •

Three years of sterile processing experience

Sterile Processing Certification (preferably HSPA)


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance

Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock

Occasional high noise level in work environment

Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
